More Than CSR: With Africa for Africa-CFAO Kenya Powering Girls’ Futures

Have you ever seen a sanitary towel/pad dispenser machine that works like an ATM?Our recent CSR school visits across Kiambu, Murang’a, Kajiado, andNairobi countiesincludingDagorettiand Kibera brought to life the spirit of With Africa For Africa by addressing real challenges faced by young learners within their own communities. The initiative reaffirmed our commitment to Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3)Quality Education (SDG 4), and long-term community impact.

The visits were organized by the Heels for Pads Foundation and supported by CFAO Kenya Limited and Sofy Kenya, together with our colleagues from CFAO Mobility, Laborex Kenya and Goodlife Pharmacies, with the shared goal of ensuring that no girl misses school because of her period. Through the distribution of Sofy long lasting sanitary pads, young learners received essential menstrual products that enable them to attend school with confidence, comfort, and dignity.

Beyond product distribution, the visits included age appropriate puberty and menstrual health education sessions for girls. These open conversations helped demystify menstruation, break stigma, and equip learners with accurate information about their bodies, laying a foundation for self-esteem, informed choices, and improved school attendance. At the same time, the sessions created awareness around Sofy long lasting product, reinforcing safe and reliable menstrual care options.

Let’s rewind to the title that opens this article. Have you ever seen a pad dispenser machine that works like an ATM?

This innovative concept reimagines access to menstrual products in schools. Much like withdrawing money from an ATM, every menstruating girl is issued a card with 12 swipes per month, ensuring reliable and dignified access to sanitary pads. The system guarantees privacy, reduces absenteeism, and allows girls to focus on what truly matters, their education, without fear or interruption.

We extend our sincere appreciation to CFAO Solidarité for awarding the grant to the Heels for Pads Foundation through CFAO Kenya. This support is transformational. Because of it, many girls will now be able to stay in school, manage their health with confidence, and pursue their education without disruption.

This initiative reflects the true essence of With Africa For Africa, working hand in hand with local partners to deliver sustainable, African-led solutions to African challenges.
