1. JOB INFORMATION

Division: Energy and Infrastructure
Department: Metal
Reports to: General Manager-Utility Energy/Metal
Work station: Nairobi

2. JOB PURPOSE

This role will be responsible for provision of Sales and Technical Support to Metal related Projects activities both on going and those in the pipeline by:

  1. Business development through quality research, pitching etc for energy sector.
  2. Project management and Supervision for assigned ongoing projects.
  3. Business feasibility study for establishing a JV company.

3. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

Project Development

  1. Provide high quality research and summary presentations on the power sector of target countries, the competitive dynamics in the market or key trends in the power industry.
  2. Considering new company set up with a view to an acquisition (M&A) or a partnership (JV’s, Equity, etc.).
  3. Negotiations with the government and utilities regarding transformer standardization.
  4. Conducting commercial, technical, financial, and operational due diligence and participating in the drafting and negotiation of key agreements.
  5. Supporting the local project development (permits, land, technical and environmental site studies, community’s compensations).
  6. Proactively keeping up to date with market developments to contribute insight to pipeline and portfolio.
  7. Analysing financial information, building, or assessing financial models and conducting sensitivity analyses.
  8. Compiling investment reports for submission to senior-level management for their approval.
  9. Supporting in managing relationships with developers and other project partners.
  10. Participating in conferences and similar events, and generally raise awareness of and actively promote CFAO/TTC’s brand, including building deep relationships with CFAO/TTC’s stakeholders and potential stakeholders.

Engineering/Technical Roles

  1. Technical supervision of projects being undertaken by the company.
  2. Supporting the EPC Contractor/Sub-Contractor and equipment suppliers to ensure the correct installation of the key equipment.
  3. Understanding of single line diagrams (SLDs) of High Voltage (HV) infrastructure in order to identify the existing grid infrastructure and ensuring adhering to grid connection requirements for projects.
  4. Conducting technical due diligence examinations on prospective project (IPP and EPC).
  5. Reviewing the grid connection study and lenders’ technical advisor (LTA) reports and providing feedback for the projects under development.
  6. Technical evaluation and implementation support for IoT-related devices that are effective in reducing power transmission and distribution losses.
  7. Supporting the business development team in achieving long term strategic renewable energy business plans and targets. (Carbon Neutral Goals).

4. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

(Minimum level of academic and professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role)

A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum level of experience required to perform effectively in the role

  • Over 5 years experience in projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD design software.
  • Experience in Technical Sales is an added advantage.
  • Must be registered with EBK (Graduate).
