CFAO Kenya Limited Handed Over Two Patrol Boats to Kenya Fisheries Service on Behalf of Toyota Tsusho Corporation.

Mombasa, Kenya – On April 19th, 2023, CFAO Kenya Limited facilitated delivery of two 12-metre Patrol Boats to the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs through a Government Programme.

The handover ceremony was held on April 19th at the Fisheries Office in Mombasa. High-ranking government officials attended the ceremony including the Deputy President H.E Rigathi Gachagua, the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya H.E Ken Okaniwa, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs; H.E Salim Mvurya, Permanent Secretary; The Blue Economy and Fisheries Ms. Betsy Njagi, County Governor H.E Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir among other dignitaries.

The 12-metre boats arrived in Mombasa in February 2023, and were constructed in accordance with the standards of the Japan Craft Inspection Organization (JCI). The boats have a cruising range of 200 NM at 35 kt and are equipped with three units of 4-stroke gasoline engines with 300hp each outboard Yamaha engine.

Crew training and test runs for the boats were completed in March, 2023. Kenya Fisheries Service will deploy the two boats in the suppression of illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing and conduct monitoring control and surveillance operations within Kenya’s territorial waters.
